Canning Spicy Salsa

Ever wonder how to preserve all those fresh summer tomatoes? This hands-on workshop is taught by UMaine Extension volunteers and staff will teach you how to create a flavorful salsa that can be made as mild or spicy as you wish. Participants will receive a "Preserving the Harvest" food preservation packet, and learn the recommended methods for preserving foods. Get the latest recipes, learn about equipment to insure safety, and how to check for properly sealed jars. Please bring a potholder to the workshop. The lab fee covers the cost of supplies.

Feeding Your Family on a Budget

The Expanded Food Nutrition Program is offered by the University of Maine Cooperative Extension and teaches families how to create healthy meals on a budget. The class will cover cooking skills, stretching your grocery bill, kitchen and food safety, along with healthier ways to eat and cook. Students will prepare, cook and eat meals in class. At the end of the five-week course, students will receive a certificate and a cookbook. The lab fee covers the cost of supplies. **Please note that the start date has been changed from 9/4 to 9/11**
