Berry Picking Basket

Using a solid, round base and a wooden swing handle, this sweet, colorful basket is perfect for collecting berries or carrying your lunch. Supply list: mop-size bucket, spring-type clothespins, sturdy scissors, a tape measure, pencil, utility knife and spray bottle. This class has an additional $16 lab fee.

A member of the University of Maine Cooperative Extension will review the basics of canning in time for spring. Can salsa by combining tomatoes, peppers with a variety of spices., and plan your gardening season for future canning. The additional $5 lab fee for the class will cover for food costs and for jars, but students should bring two potholders to class.

Chair yoga lets students do basic stretches while remaining seated. While it is one way to become more familiar with yoga if a student struggles with getting up and down from the floor, the class is open to adults of different ability levels. Wear comfortable clothes for exercise. The class will be held at Chill Yoga 178 Lisbon Street Lewiston.
Connors School Construction

Learn about the construction work at Robert V. Connors Elementary School right next door to Lewiston High School. Hear about the work that has been done and the work that remains to be done for the new school. Weather permitting, the class will visit the construction site. Students should wear boots or other footwear suitable for walking through mud and soil.

Have you ever wondered what goes into your food or the process involved before it arrives on your table? The class will explain the idea behind eating clean, which means food that is not genetically modified or raised with pesticides. Students will also make a few food following the approach, including soup, beet salad and chocolate avocado mousse. This class has an additional $15 lab fee.

Learn about healthy meal preparation and sensible shopping on a limited budget. Prepare the meal along with the chef and then receive a free bag of groceries for you to make one of the recipes at home each week. Graduation certificate, recipe book and other free items provided upon completition of the program.
CPR, First Aid, & AED

This course follows the guidelines set forth by the American Heart Association for heartsaver CPR (adult, child, infant, and AED). Participants will learn to assess the patient, send someone to call for help and retrieve the AED, and do cycles of compressions and breaths to help save a life. A course textbook and certification card are included as part of the program. This class is designed for lay rescues encountered by non-healthcare providers. There is an additional $5 lab fee as lunch will be provided.
