If you are seeking a challenging and rewarding career in the medical field, this course will provide you with the skills and experience to be Maine State Certified as a Nursing Assistant. Nurses aide skills will be taught in an interactive classroom setting and a two-week clinical experience will follow. The course will focus on nursing theory and application, including basic anatomy, physiology, and clinical performance. Students can only be admitted to the program after successfully completing a screening and interview. Applicants are strongly encouraged to job shadow a CNA before interviewing.

All candidates must take the Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment System (CASAS) before they can be considered for the program. Please call 795-4141 to schedule your CASAS test. All registrations must be made in person. Full payment is due before the first class. There is an additional $145 lab fee for this class.  

Prerequisites: HS diploma, GED, CASAS test, interview. Before a student can begin the clinical phase of the program they must produce documentation of a recent medical physical examination conducted and signed by a physician as well as the following vaccinations: Hep B1, MMR, Tetanus, Chicken Pox, TB. Fee for Background Check is nonrefundable. Classes start on Jan. 23, 2018.

Welding I

Are you looking for a career as a welder or looking to acquire the skills needed to complete home welding projects? This course will cover the basics of welding theory and proper safety measures. In addition, you will get hands-on experience with electrodes, learning the different types, their selection requirements and how to apply them correctly. You will begin welding with stick electrodes in a flat position and progress to welding vertically with E6011 and E7018 type electrodes. There is an additional $65 lab fee for this class. 

Welding II

Are you serious about beginning a career as a welder? This program is designed for those individuals pursuing training with the goal of employment in the welding trade. You will get an overview of welding theory and move into industrial applications such as MIG and TIG welding and end with an in-depth review of Flux Cored welding. Students completing this course will receive a certificate documenting the hours of hands-on experience. There is an additional $95 lab fee for this class.
