Chair Caning

Calendar Sep 17, 2019 at 6:30 pm, runs for 5 weeks

Caning a chair requires seven simple steps using five basic tools. You will learn one step per class. Students will be asked to bring their chair home to complete the step, then move on to the next step in the following class. On the first night, please bring your chair free of all cane. At the end of the session you will have a unique chair to display in your home. Cane and pegs for your chair will be provided and covered by the lab fee.

Christmas Spider

Calendar Oct 5, 2019 at 9:30 am, runs for 1 week

Learn the legend of the Christmas spider and create a few festive, beaded spiders to add to your tree or to give as a gift. You will also go home with supplies to make more spiders. Please bring a light-colored washcloth, as well as a pair of small needle-nose pliers and wire cutters if you have them. The cost of the class includes a $6 lab fee for materials.

Granny Squares

Calendar Sep 5, 2019 at 6 pm, runs for 1 week

Learn to crochet a basic granny square that can be used in other projects. Samples of mittens, pillows, afghans and more will be available to show items made with granny squares. You will also learn how to connect the squares and finish your borders with a decorative edge. No experience necessary. The lab fee will cover the cost of materials. Students may also sign up for Arts & Crafts Studio to continue their work.

Medium Market Basket

Calendar Nov 6, 2019 at 5 pm, runs for 1 week

Choose your color and weave this 8" wide, 11" long basket using a sturdy "D" handle. Fill it full of greens and berries, bring it to the market, or make it a nice holiday gift! Supply list: Mop sized bucket, sturdy scissors, tape measure, spring type clothespins, jack knife, pencil, spray bottle, old towel. The lab fee covers the cost of supplies.

Quilling For Beginners

Quilling is the art of using paper that is rolled, shaped and glued together. Learn the basic shapes and create a framed, three-dimensional floral decorative design. The lab fee covers the cost of a kit that each student to bring home for future projects.

Quilt Block of the Week

Calendar Oct 16, 2019 at 5:30 pm, runs for 6 weeks

Learn to make six different quilt blocks, one each week. Blocks are based on the patterns in the book Strip Six by Daniela Stout. Participants are encouraged to purchase the book and a ruler from Quilt Essentials in Auburn. Basic sewing machine skills are necessary. Please bring your own sewing machine. A supply list for the first class will be available upon registration. Additional fabric requirements will be provided at the end of each class for the next week.

Rug Braiding 1

Join us to discover the fun of wool rug braiding. By the end of the class, you will have completed a 2' x 3' area rug. Learn this New England inspired art form that will allow you to make lasting family treasures. If you need a rug braiding stand ($25), please let us know upon registration. Advanced students may bring their own projects. Supply list available upon registration.  **Please note that an additional week has been added as there is no class on October 9th.**

If you have rug braiding experience, this class will take your talents to the next level or allow you to finish a previously started project. You will experiment by making a round, or rectangular. Advanced students may bring their own projects. Supply list available upon registration. **Please note that the start date has been changed from Oct 30 to Nov 6.**
